DIY "Happy Camper" T-shirts

After we came across a baseball t-shirt that had "happy camper" on the front I knew we both needed one.
Neither of us were willing to spend $30 on a t-shirt that we could make ourselves with a little help from Brittney's Cricut and both of our creative skills. While browsing Pinterest for some idea on just how to make these t-shirts, I had come a cross a great tutorial on how to use iron-on vinyl for your Cricut here. The instructions are pretty easy to follow if you know how to work one.

I had found some cheap regular old baseball tees online here. They came in the mail really quick and got here in about 3 days.

Brittney had also found some iron on vinyl here that got here about a day after the shirts did.

First, we washed them in cold, dried them half way, and hung them up to dry the rest of the way. We didn't want them to shrink after the vinyl was on so we dried them only a little bit.
Next, once they were dry we designed a shirt on her computer. We had to cut the flame and the letters in 2 different steps because they were 2 different colors on the computer and the flame wouldn't change to black.
Then, when it was cut we had to take all the little letters off. We could have left it on the plastic but decided to take it off for the time being while we redesigned it on to the shirt.
Finally, once it was on the shirt, we put the plastic over it and ironed it. We had to iron it pretty extensively to make sure the letters really stuck. It turned out great. We waited for it to cool before removing the plastic. (The picture is with the plastic still on.)

We left to go get the camper we had looked at on Tuesday. (Pictures coming soon.)
We won't have enough vinyl for the back but once we get more we are putting "Wanderlust" where a last name would be put and the number "72" for the year of the camper.

We only had time to iron on one but it turned out amazing and I can't wait to wear them!

Adventure Is Our Middle Name

After everything was set in stone and we had bought a ball for the Silver Streak and got all the plans sorted out with the guy he texted me this morning and said "Sorry for the inconvenience but the camper was picked up this morning. My brother bought it" I don't think I was more frustrated than the moment I got that text. But just like everything else I have to have a positive attitude. So to get our mind off of the disappointment me and Brittney went on a little adventure. Well, kind of an adventure. We went to go get a wooden reel that were on the Facebook classifieds, and the best part they were free! When we left Brittneys house which is out of town a ways we took a back road not really knowing where it would lead but hoping it led us back to town, and close to the reel. On our way we found what looked like a junk yard full of rustic things and went to go investigate. Not even a minute later this guy drives up with his four wheeler and tells us we can't look through his stuff. I mean it didn't say no trespassing so we thought we could just look around to get some ideas. Boy were we wrong. So we went on our way. We got the reel loaded onto the truck plus some pallets and a few logs for just some fun projects.
We might not have a camper by next week but we're ready if one happens to come our way.

Guess What Day It Is

Yes, it is hump day but it's also the day WE GOT OURSELVES A CAMPER! It is a 1972 27' Silverstreak. We negotiated a bit and got the owner down to $1,800! It is about 4 hours away but the owner said he would be willing to meet in Jamestown on Saturday which is about 3 hours from here. It is the perfect camper for the 4 of us! However, it does need a new water heater and a fridge but we could not pass up such a spacious camper for that price. I do have some pictures that the owner had sent me but I think I'll wait to post some until we actually get it home! I have started the budget/camping binder and it is almost done. Brittney and I are so excited to take on this adventure together, and I know the end product will be more than beautiful.

May Day Is The Best Day

The camper me and Nathan found had sold before we had a chance to go get it, but everything happens for a reason and I wasn't to bummed. On a happy note, Brittney found a camper this morning and sent me a picture of it. Crazy enough, 20 minutes prior I had already texted the owner! Great minds think alike I guess. However, it was $2,200. :( BUT Brittney said that if we can talk the owners down a little bit her and her boyfriend Trevor would be interested in splitting the cost of it and sharing it with us! Now, I know some might be thinking that's crazy but there's no way me and Nathan would be using it all the time so I thought it would be a good idea to keep that cost low and get maximum amount of space. This camper is 3 hours away so we would have to get some pretty detailed photographs and ask lots of questions before going to pick it up if all goes well. I'm crossing my fingers for this one!
